Music

Traditional

The Chancel Choir is the heart of the traditional music program at Wesley and provides leadership for the 11:00 a.m. worship service each week.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:45p.m. with childcare provided.  Our Choral Scholar Music Program hosts college students from UNCW who sing in the 11:00 service during the fall and spring semesters.

The Wesley Ringers is a five octave handbell group that rehearses on Wednesday afternoons from 5:30-6:30.   The group also plays a three octave set of Schulmerich handchimes.  In addition to assisting the Chancel Choir at the 11:0 worship service, they attend the Capital Area Handbell Festival in Raleigh sponsored by the Raleigh Ringers.  The ability to read music is not a requirement, but is strongly encouraged.  Childcare is provided.

Every summer we offer a Jazz/Gospel style service at 11:00 which is led by our jazz instrumentalists and vocalists.  New Song is a choir consisting of singers who enjoy singing more contemporary music with a jazz or gospel style.   We continue to offer this style of service once a month throughout the year.

For more information about any of these musical opportunities (including singing or playing for our Jazz services), please contact  Bettsy Curtis, Director of Music Ministries at 791-4092 ext. 119.
