Youth

At The Pumpkin Church, we take developing Christian leaders seriously  We offer a mix of Bible studies, fun and crazy events, and service projects and mission trips as we seek to invest in followers of Christ.  We are blessed to have a large, energetic group of students, 6th through 12th grades, a great Youth Council, and many devoted adult counselors. We invite all youth to join us to make new friends, build a strong spiritual foundation, and help us share Christ’s love with our community and beyond.

Growth & Fellowship

edited-youth circle spacer Sunday Morning Worship – 8:45, 11:00 (Whatever your worship style, we’ve got options!)
Sunday School 10:00 – Middle School & Senior. High School classes meet in the Activity Building (Gym)
UMYF – Sunday nights Late August-May 5:00-6:30. We might do a service project, study a student-chosen topic like peer pressure from the cultural and biblical perspectives, or create team-building experiences. Drop by and join in the fun!

Holy Grounds – Wednesdays September-May: We hang out in the game room and gym on Wednesday afternoons after school. We have a snack, do homework, and goof off. Since so many of us go to so many different schools, Holy Grounds is great for just hanging out with friends.
Confirmation Class – for students 6th grade and up. We study about our faith and prepare to make an educated adult commitment of faith.

Worship Arts

Our youth have many opportunities to develop and share their gifts through the arts. Youth are actively participating in our visual arts team creating slides for worship.  Others operate the sound board or cameras.  We have two Youth Praise Bands, a Youth Drama Team, and many opportunities to share musical gifts.  Youth lay speakers are also welcome here.  No matter what gifts and talents God has given you, we can find a way for you to plug into the worship life at The Pumpkin Church! These ministries rehearse regularly and share in worship services and events throughout the year.

R.U.S.H.

RUSH is a bi-monthly Youth led Worship, for youth, by youth. All 6th-12th grade students are invited to participate.  It meets 5:00-6:00 on Sundays instead of Youth Group.

Missions

Our youth are focused on serving across the globe. We serve locally with the Methodist Home for Children, WARM, Early Bread, UNCW Move-In, Relay for Life, and Nursing Home visits. In the Southeast our annual summer Sr. High Mission trip has included the Appalachian Service Project, ReConstruct, the Timothy Project, TeamEffort, and Hinton Rural Life Center. We also serve internationally through ZOE, Giving Hope, Stop Hunger Now, Operation Shoebox, Ignite Ministries and the Antigua mission. This summer the high schoolers served in Philadelphia and got the chance to tour along with a week of service. The middle schoolers have an opportunity in the fall to serve at Camp Rockfish outside Fayetteville for a weekend where we paint cabins and paddle canoes.  Everyone is invited to Camp Don Lee in the Spring for another weekend of service and fun. spacer youth-missions

Conference Events/Retreats

We find that getting away from our everyday lives enables the Holy Spirit to really work on our hearts.  So, at The Pumpkin Church, we provide multiple opportunities to get away with Christ.

We take part in the NC Conference of The United Methodist Church Youth events, as well as other spiritual retreats. Events include a Pilgrimage at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville each November, a fall retreat, DNOW at Fort Caswell, a Senior High winter ski retreat, Confirmation retreat, a Senior. High mission trip, Chrysalis, the NC Conference Breakaway week at Louisburg College, and ACS-Annual Conference Session for Youth at Methodist University.

Pumpkin Patch

The Pumpkin Patch is our annual youth fundraiser and outreach ministry. Open daily from the end of September through the month of October this unique fundraiser allows students to earn credit toward the retreats and events offered throughout the year. Profits are used to fund our youth ministry and mission outreach projects we support.
