Rev. Beth Hood
Beth has served as the Senior Pastor at Wesley Memorial since 2012, having previously served churches and the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church in Sanford, Lemon Springs, Aberdeen, and Greenville. Beth describes herself as “fueled by joyful worship, both traditional and contemporary, that celebrates the gift of Jesus Christ,” and considers it a great honor to serving God through preaching, guiding worship, leading the church staff, and partnering with hundreds of committed followers of Jesus in our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Having grown up in Carrboro, NC, just outside of Chapel Hill, Beth has affection for all things Carolina blue, and especially loves watching the UNC Tarheels play basketball. She, her husband, Paul, and their son, Adam, also enjoy cookouts and get-togethers, soaking in the beauty of Creation, and getting to know others and their life stories.
I had searched for ten years for a congregation & community that was young and old, that preached love, that was fueled by the Holy Spirit, that had balance between tradition and applied interpretation to the problems of today, asking 'How can we make it better?' As a person who has loosely attended church my whole life, I never felt home until Wesley.
From the first time I stepped foot in Wesley Memorial, I felt like I had come home... we not only have good preachers but good shepherds in every sense of the word.
I truly believe God brought me here. From the first time I drove by Wesley, I knew it would be my church... the place for me.I continue to be drawn to the giving, loving, caring people who attend Wesley. They have taught me a lot, and I pray I give back as much as they have given me.
