Rev. Kwan Kim

Kwan has served as the Associate Pastor at Wesley Memorial since 2020, where he loves preaching, teaching, and sharing the love of Christ with others. His primary pastoral focus is upon pastoral counseling, care, and visitation. He is grateful to work alongside Wesley Memorial’s very active Stephen Ministry and home visitation teams. Should you, your family, or someone you know have a need for pastoral care, prayer, or a listening ear, Kwan would love to connect with you.

Kwan was born as a pastor’s kid and his father, a retired Korean Methodist Bishop, has been his lifetime role model. Kwan received an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree at Methodist Theological Seminary in Seoul, Korea, and received another master’s degree of Theology at Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. He has served as a United Methodist pastor since 2005, with his appointments ranging from small rural churches to big urban churches with multiple pastoral staff. He loves singing, listening to music, reading, watching movies, exploring new things, making things with others, and having family time with Su, his wife, and with his two sons, Tom and Teak.

I had searched for ten years for a congregation & community that was young and old, that preached love, that was fueled by the Holy Spirit, that had balance between tradition and applied interpretation to the problems of today, asking 'How can we make it better?' As a person who has loosely attended church my whole life, I never felt home until Wesley.

From the first time I stepped foot in Wesley Memorial, I felt like I had come home... we not only have good preachers but good shepherds in every sense of the word.

I truly believe God brought me here. From the first time I drove by Wesley, I knew it would be my church... the place for me.I continue to be drawn to the giving, loving, caring people who attend Wesley. They have taught me a lot, and I pray I give back as much as they have given me.
